Do I need a Visa?

Starting in mid-2026, citizens from countries currently exempt from needing a visa for Poland (like the US, Australia and UK) will need to register for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) before traveling to Poland. ETIAS is a new travel authorization system for the Schengen Area, which includes Poland. Once approved, an ETIAS will be valid for 3 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

Which airport in Poland should I fly to?

The best airport to fly into is Krakow Balice situated 20-30 min drive from Krakow. IATA code: KRK, ICAO code: EPKK You can also fly into Warsaw or Katowice and train to Krakow.

The best way to get from the Krakow Airport to the city centre is via taxi (~A$45/ PLN110), Uber or Krakow Airport Train (A$9 / PLN20).

Poland is a very digital country, so you should be able to use your card pretty much everywhere, but we recomend to carry cash for tips, local markets and for certain attractions like horse and carriage rides around the Main Square.

Yes, usually it’s 10% of the bill.

What’s the weather like in August and what clothes should we bring?

August is usually one of the hotter months in Kraków, but be prepared for chilly weather at night – we recommend bringing a light jacket. Typical temperature during the day is around 28C, and drops to about 20C at night.
