THE HISTORY OF PALACE GOETZ Pałac Goetz, the stunning setting for our wedding, was built at the turn of the 20th century by Baron Jan Albin Goetz-Okocimski and his wife Zofia. Designed by Viennese architects in an elegant blend of neobaroque and neorococo styles, the palace was surrounded by a beautiful English-style park and quickly became one of the most magnificent residences in southern Poland. The Goetz family were originally brewers from Germany who, in the 19th century, founded the Okocim Brewery in nearby Brzesko. Under their vision, the brewery grew into one of the most important in Europe, and the family were elevated to Polish aristocracy. Known for their philanthropy, innovation, and hospitality, they played a central role in the region’s cultural and social life. Over the decades, the palace welcomed statesmen, artists, and aristocrats. After the Goetz family fled during the Second World War, the estate was nationalized and for many years used as a school. Following extensive restoration in the 21st century, Pałac Goetz has been lovingly revived to its former splendour. Today, its grand halls, sweeping staircases, and romantic gardens stand as a symbol of elegance, history, and timeless celebration—a perfect place to begin the next chapter of our lives together. https://palacgoetz.pl/en/

Wedding Week Schedule For guests travelling from other countries: We suggest arriving in Krakow on Sunday, 9 August 2026 or Monday, 10 August 2026 to settle in and adjust to the time difference. Monday (10/08) &amp; Tuesday (11/08)These are perfect days to unwind, explore the city at your own pace and take in all that Krakow has to offer. There is so much to do! (read more in Travel Info). Wednesday Night (12/08)We'd love everyone to come together to our Rooftop Meet &amp; Greet Cocktail Party - a casual evening to mingle, enjoy the city views and meet old friends and new before the big day. Thursday (13/08)Take Thursday to rest and recharge and explore Krakow some more - we recommend a quiet evening so everyone feels fresh and fabulous for the wedding celebration on Friday.If you need more travel tips or restaurant recommendations for dinner - you can find them in the "Things to Do" tab. Friday (14/08)The wedding ceremony will start at 4:00pm. After the ceremony there will be a cocktail hour at the outdoor terrace of the Palace. The Wedding Reception starts straight after the cocktail hour. There will be no "photo shoot waiting time gap" in between, but rather an ongoing flow of events, food, music and dancing so the wedding guests can enjoy the time with the Newlyweds present the whole time. The reception finishes at 5:00AM or traditionally when the last guest leaves (so could be longer). Saturday (15/08)(for guests staying at the Palace)A breakfast for all the guests will be served at 10:00am.

CEREMONYThe wedding ceremony will start at 4:00pm in the beautiful gardens of Palace Goetz and will go for about 20 to 30 minutes. We are excited to celebrate the day with you!

COCKTAIL HOUR After the Ceremony we will ask you to join us on the terrace of the Palace for a cocktail hour where we can begin the celebrations.

PRZYWITANIEWelcome with Bread and Salt Before everyone enters the wedding reception, the Newlyweds are traditionally welcomed with bread and salt. Bread is offered so that the couple may never know hunger, while salt reminds them of life's difficulties and the importance of learning to cope.

Welcome with Vodka and Water Following the bread and salt ceremony, two shots, one water and one vodka are served to the Newlyweds. Whoever receives the vodka shot will "wear the pants" in the marriage.

Welcome with Champagne The final stage of Przywitanie, champagne is served to the Newlyweds and the champagne glasses must be thrown behind by the Newlyweds. The more broken glass fragments, the happier the marriage will be. After this event the wedding guests will be formally invited to enter the reception area.

CARRYING THE BRIDETraditionally, the Groom must carry the Bride over the threshold while entering the reception venue for the first time.It is seen as a proof of love and willingness to meet all the needs of his (now) wife.

WEDDING RECEPTIONThe Wedding Reception will begin after the cocktail hour. There will be no "photo shoot waiting time gap" in between, but rather an ongoing flow of events, food, music and dancing so the wedding guests can enjoy the time with the Newlyweds present the whole time (although we may be stolen away by the photographer for a few moments for some "Golden Hour" photos). The reception finishes at 5:00AM or traditionally when the last guest leaves (so could be longer). There is no need to be worry about your hunger levels during the evening - a hot &amp; cold buffets and several late night meals will be served during the evening.

FEASTING AND DANCINGWe have arranged an amazing DJ with a live music; meaning there will be lots of dancing, singing Polish feast songs, games, jokes, entertainment and a even more of dancing throughout the night with pauses for eating and drinking. Please wear (or bring) your dancing shoes.

ALCOHOLIn keeping with Polish tradition there will of course be an extensive amount of Vodka, it being the national drink. Polish vodka will be available on the tables and is traditionally drunk as a shot . Don't worry - you will dance enough to sweat it out. Also, a hot tip for the non-Polish guests - you can ask for your shot glass to be half filled! We also naturally have an open bar until the early hours of the morning which will be serving a range of wine, beer, spirits and cocktails for you to enjoy.

THE FEASTMake sure you come hungry. A light lunch or skipping lunch all together is recommended. Polish weddings are a feast so there will plenty of traditional Polish food! DinnerDinner will be served straight after the official guests welcoming toast as dinner is eaten early in Poland. We have an amazing menu prepared by the Palace Goetz culinary school and you won't be disappointed. BuffetBetween dinner and the late night meal there is a hot and cold buffet with a wide range of traditional Polish foods for you to recharge your energy after all the dancing (yes more dancing). Late night mealA hot late night meal will also be served during the later hours of the evening to keep you going to 5AM. Traditionally, the last dish will be served at around 2AM. Sweets and CakeMake sure you also visit our Sweets Table - a decadent dessert grazing table with a delicious assortment of sweets and deserts. Wedding cake will also be served for you to satisfy that sweet tooth.

For many of our guests travelling from all over the world, this will be a long journey - and we hope you make the most of your time here by exploring all that Krakow has to offer. Krakow, the second-largest city in Poland, is a treasure trove for history and culture, boasting a rich legacy of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. This ancient city, with parts dating back to the 7th century, was once the capital of Poland from 1038 to 1596. Krakow's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to largest medieval market square in Europe, Rynek Glowny, surrounded by stunning architecture, including the iconic St. Mary's Basilica and Wawel Castle. The city also features the historic Jewish Quarter, Kazimierz, with its trendy bars, restaurants, and cultural centres. With its vibrant atmosphere, lively nightlife, and numerous attractions, Krakow offers a unique blend of history, culture and entertainment. From its cobblestone streets, historical buildings, to its lovely parks, there's something to discover around every corner.

Here are just a few ideas for how you could spend your week in Krakow: - Explore the Old Town &amp; Wawel Castle: wander through the UNESCO-listed Old Town, visit the magnificent Wawel Royal Castle and don't miss the iconic St. Mary's Basilica on the Main Square. - While at Wawel Castle visit Dragon's Den. The cave that the legendary dragon inhabited leads down from Wawel Hill to the bank of the Vistula river. The legendary beast terrorised the locals and demanded offerings of cattle, though in an alternative version of the tale which Kasia learnt at school these were virgins! Not even the strongest of warriors could cope with the Wawel Dragon. It was defeated only by the smart shoemaker’s apprentice Skuba, who exploited the worst of the beast’s weaknesses – voracious gluttony. The boy placed a ram’s hide stuffed with sulphur in front of the entry to the cave, and the serpent swallowed it with glee. Soon the monster began to suffer horrible thirst: it was the sulphur burning his innards. He waddled out from his cave to the Vistula, and began to drink water, but could not quench the thirst. Dragons as it is known don’t give up easily, so he drank without a moment’s rest, quite forgetting himself until he burst! A sculpture representing the Wawel Dragon stands by the cave’s mouth in the Vistula embankments. A few hundred years ago, the cave harboured a famous inn (or more than that), where – mindless of the warning contained in the legend about the monster’s fate – locals and numerous travellers quenched their thirst. The entrance to the Den for contemporary visitors is on the hill, behind the Thieves’ Tower. The 81-metre long route leads along corridors and across chambers with fossils and assorted karst formations to the riverside. - Try traditional Polish Cuisine: Warm up with pierogi, finish on a traditional Vodka tasting! -Visit the Jewish Quarter (Kazimierz): Discover the historic streets of Kazimierz, filled with street art, quirky cafes, synagogues and fascinating history. We also strongly recommend trying a zapiekanka here as they are renowned as the best in Poland! -Day trips: Take a short trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine (UNESCO listed) or pay a reflective visit to Auschwitz - both are deeply moving and memorable experiences. - Markets &amp; Souvenirs: Stroll through local markets and pick up unique gifts, amber jewellery or hand-made crafts. A must visit market is Stary Kleparz which is a walking distance from the Old Town and offers the most amazing variety of fresh food and flowers. - Shop at Sukiennice, the Krakow Cloth Hall. During its gold age in the 15th century, the hall was the source of a variety of exotic imports from the east - spices, silk, leather and wax - while Krakow itself exported textiles, lead, and salt from the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Now, Sukiennice which has been listed as a UNESCO heritage offers very expensive tourist souvenirs. - Visit Oscar Schindler's Enamel Factory - Go for a swim to Zakrzowek - one of the most beautiful site used by divers in Poland, and the rocks surrounding it offer a wonderful panorama of Krakow. - Visit the Princes Czartoryski Museum to see The&nbsp;Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci - Relax in the Parks: Take a peaceful walk along the Vistula River or unwind in one of Krakow's many green spaces and gardens. POLISH FOOD 

STREET FOOD KIELBASA Z NIEBIESKIEJ NYSKI - Polish kielbasa, mustard and bread served from a Cold War Van which has been serving sausages in Krakow since 1991. The menu is super simple. The sausages are grilled in front of the van over the beechwood flames. It runs almost every night with line stretching till 3AM. ZAPIEKANKI Z OKRAGLAKA - Zapiekanka is a toasted baguette with a melted mushroom and cheese base, and then loaded with toppings. The best Zapiekanki are served from Endzior in Kazimierz (Jewish district). A hot tip - the less toppings, the better Zapiekanka is! OBWARZANEK - an obwarzanek is a braided ring-shaped bread that is boiled and sprinkled with salt, sesame or poppy seeds. Traditionally sold from street carts, it is a popular snack in Krakow, where it has the status of a regional food. OSCYPEK - a smoked cheese made of salted sheep milk exclusively made in the Tatra Mountains region of Poland. It is often pan-fried and served with cranberry jam on the side.

JAGODZIANKI - a Polish blueberry bans, are the essence of a Polish summer. PACZKI - a traditional Polish doughnuts that are made from a rich brioche-style dough, filled with a rose jam.

We highly recommend to stay away from cafes around the Main Square as usually they don't offer much. Just walk to one of the breakfast cafes listed below.
